Craftivism

Craftivism is "the art of gentle protest" and it's a way everyone can get involved in speaking out on a subject close to their heart, without shouting once... unless they really want to (you don't even need to be good at craft!).

I am fascinated by the way craftivism helps folk connect with their passion, focus on a need, and take action. It so often changes the way people think about an issue, as much as it can change systems and structures

I always think speaking out comes from our heart, how we do that is affected by our current role within the world and workplace, and our context is often what sparks the desire to take action around a certain issue. For me the act of Craftivism allows me to attend to my Soul, Role and Context as I both plan and undertake projects. This self attention is part of reflective practice and is good for all of us to stop and think about as we look at the world around us.

Have a look at Craftivist Collective for the wider conversation!

I often use craft as a way to speak into a situation... whether that is crocheting items to help those with power and voices show compassion, or encouraging others to join in with wider campaigns... you'll find more of what I have been doing in the blog posts. (just use the search bar or tap the craftivism tag at the bottom!)
