trinket trades

I was so excited when I discovered Trinket Trades as a concept (thanks http://pdxdinorama.org!) the idea that we can use joy as something to start our conversations, especially around small things is huge. Jesus talks loads (well a lot more than most blokes I know) about children. So often we want to seem so serious, so important, that we forget simple pleasures, wonder, joy and play. Jesus says that unless we turn and come like a little child we won’t ever enter God’s Kingdom.

I sometimes have been guilty of assuming that we enter the Kingdom of Heaven once we are dead, but Jesus is really keen on talking about the here and now. so what would it mean for us to turn around and be more childlike? I sometimes think that is about joy in the small things, curiosity, and asking incessant questions, why? when? how? living in the moment we find ourselves, and eating icecream for breakfast.

Tiny trinket trades are a small way of engaging in that wonder, of building community, and of being more able to find joy
